Filtration media Wellness-marketed
Magnetic Ceramic Balls are fired mineral ceramic balls with magnetic mineral particles built into the ceramic.
Made of: Minerals and magnetic particles sintered into a ceramic (supplier); the magnetic material is not disclosed
Form: Ceramic balls
Main job: Marketed for 'magnetised' water
Used in: Waslix custom layered cartridges; also sold loose by weight
The balls carry a permanent magnetic field; the supplier calls it moderate and gives no strength. Magnets of this kind do not pull dissolved minerals or metals out of water, and we found no evidence of a lasting change to water chemistry after magnetic treatment.
Scale control: studies of magnetic devices on hard water give mixed results; a US national-laboratory field test found no benefit, and none we found tested balls in a drinking-water cartridge
May nudge pH: the supplier's product title mentions alkaline water, without figures; not measured
No iron or heavy-metal claim: magnets do not take dissolved iron out of water, and we have no test data for iron or heavy metals
Evidence: limited Magnetic water treatment has been studied for scale control, with mixed results; we found no studies of its effect on drinking-water quality. Independent evidence for 'magnetised' water is limited.
If you want it, add it as a single finishing layer near the outlet, after the treatment layers.
Layer position: Near the outlet, after activated alumina and iron-based media, and before the filtration pad
Pairs well with: Activated carbon and the other treatment layers placed before it
Keep in mind: It is not a replacement for a polyphosphate scale-inhibitor layer, and it removes no contaminants

Before first use: Rinse until the water runs clear and send the first flush to drain
Storage: Keep sealed and dry, away from bank cards and other magnet-sensitive items; keep dust down when pouring
Replacement: The supplier gives no service life; replace it with the cartridge
No. Magnets do not take dissolved iron out of water, and we have no test data showing this medium reduces iron. Choose a medium tested for iron instead.
We don't claim it will. Results for magnetic scale control are mixed, and the studies we found used magnetic devices on pipes, not magnetic balls in a drinking-water cartridge.
No certification is claimed for this product. Filter media can be certified for material safety (for example to NSF/ANSI 61) and complete systems for performance (NSF/ANSI 42 or 53), but we have not found such a listing for this material.
How well any medium works depends on your water, the flow rate, contact time and the other layers in the cartridge. This page describes the loose medium, not a certified filter system.
Magnetic Ceramic Balls are fired mineral ceramic balls with permanently magnetic particles, offered as an optional finishing layer for the outlet end of a layered cartridge. They are marketed for 'magnetised' water. Independent evidence for magnetic water treatment is mixed and comes from scale-control studies, not drinking-water quality. No removal of dissolved iron or other contaminants has been shown.
